Do I need to register it?
Yes — PLB registration is a legal requirement (and free). We walk you through it after purchase.
Does it need a subscription?
PLBs (406 MHz) don't. Tracker devices like inReach or SPOT require an active plan to send non-emergency messages.
What happens if I hit SOS?
Your coordinates go to the GEOS IERCC or your national SAR authority within 60 seconds. They coordinate rescue.
Does it float?
Most PLBs are inherently buoyant and include a retaining lanyard. Check the individual product spec to confirm.
