Why this setup

What makes it work out there.

Pole-to-pole Iridium

The only network that covers the full Atlantic, Arctic, and Southern Ocean. Other satphones drop at latitude.

Starlink Maritime

Real broadband offshore. 50-220 Mbps for crew welfare, video calls, weather routing.

Authorized & warrantied

Every unit sourced direct from Iridium / Starlink / Inmarsat. Norwegian service, Norwegian warranty.

“We run comms across the North Atlantic. Satavenue supplies the whole fleet — Iridium handsets, Starlink Maritime, the spares that matter.”

Questions, answered

What buyers ask us.

What's the minimum for a serious offshore setup?
At minimum: an Iridium handset for voice + SMS backup, a PLB beacon per person, and ideally a Starlink Maritime dish for crew broadband. For the ARC rally we recommend adding AIS + an external antenna for cockpit coverage.
Does Starlink work at sea?
Yes — Starlink Maritime and Starlink Flat High-Performance are the right kits. Regular residential Starlink dishes won't work offshore without a Roam plan, and service drops beyond 12 nautical miles unless you're on the Maritime plan.
Which satphone for an Atlantic crossing?
Iridium every time. Thuraya has gaps at mid-Atlantic and nothing past Cape Horn / Arctic waters. Iridium 9575 Extreme is drop-tested + IP65. The 9555 is cheaper with the same network.
What about emergency beacons?
Every crew member should carry a PLB. For the boat itself an EPIRB is mandatory for ocean category sailing (ARC, etc.). We stock ACR and Ocean Signal. Registration is free and we help you through it.
Can Satavenue handle our whole fleet?
Yes. Commercial maritime buyers get volume pricing, consolidated invoicing, and a named account manager. Email us with your fleet size and we'll scope it.
